Four national first prizes, four National Outstanding Organization Awards and eight National Outstanding Instructor Awards! Chengdu Hi-tech Zone has delivered an impressive result in the recently announced selection for the “School Aesthetic Education Initiative: Showcase of Workshops for the Inheritance and Innovation of Youth Visual Arts.” The event was included in the Ministry of Education’s List of National Competitions for Primary and Secondary School Students for the 2025–2028 School Years.
National Workshop Awards

The competition featured four categories: intangible cultural heritage inheritance and innovation, technology-enabled art, integrated art innovation, and environmental art and design. The six award-winning workshops from Chengdu Hi-tech Zone each had distinctive features: four won first prize, one won second prize and one won third prize.
Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Zhonghe Primary School
— “Awl-and-Blade Printmaking” Workshop
Using awls and knives instead of brushes, students create one-of-a-kind prints on paperboard and incorporate shadow puppetry and Han-dynasty pictorial bricks into cultural and creative products, forming a distinctive curriculum in awl-carved paper printmaking.

Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Jinhui Tianfu Primary School
— Shu-Style Bamboo Craft Workshop
Drawing on the school’s dedicated bamboo craft workshop, the program incorporates Shu-style bamboo weaving into aesthetic education courses and passes on the craftsmanship of Bashu’s intangible cultural heritage.

Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Jincheng Primary School
— Digital Arts Workshop on Bronze Culture
Grounded in the ancient bronze civilization of Shu, the workshop brings together advanced technologies such as digital projection art, 3D printing and AI creation, fostering an in-depth dialogue between tradition and technology.

Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School, Tianfu Campus
— Ink Painting and Ceramics Workshop
Combining the artistic conception of ink painting with ceramic firing techniques, the workshop uses porcelain as paper and glaze as ink, allowing students to experience the beauty of traditional craftsmanship through the transformations of the kiln.

Runhe Campus of Chengdu Zhonghe Middle School
— “Paper Rhymes and Cutting Fun” Paper-Cutting Workshop
Using paper-cutting as its medium, the workshop passes on folk craftsmanship and showcases the beauty of paper art.

Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Tianchen Road Primary School
— PDC Aesthetic Education Workshop on Tangchang Cloth Shoes and Digital Intangible Heritage
Grounded in Tangchang cloth shoes, a national-level intangible cultural heritage item, the workshop deeply integrates heritage culture with modern technology. Through PDC project-based learning, it uses digital technologies such as AI, the Internet of Things and 3D modeling to support hands-on inquiry. This innovative “intangible heritage + technology” approach to education opens a new path for keeping traditional culture alive through transmission.

Instructor Awards

Behind these impressive results are the dedication of the instructors and the strong support of their schools.
Eight teachers from across the Zone received National Outstanding Instructor Awards: Yu Jianglan and Feng Dan of Zhonghe Primary School; Zhang Ziqin and Liu Dinghan of Jinhui Tianfu Primary School; Zhang Shuyue and Tang Xiang of Jincheng Primary School; and Jia Yaping and Yang Ying of Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School, Tianfu Campus.
These teachers are deeply rooted in their everyday classrooms and dedicated to developing their workshops. They led students through streets and neighborhoods to conduct on-site cultural research, jointly developed creative themes and repeatedly refined their artworks, creating a broad practical stage where students can experience, create and pass on beauty.
Outstanding Organization Awards

Four schools—Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Jincheng Primary School, Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School, Tianfu Campus, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Zhonghe Primary School and Chengdu Hi-tech Zone Jinhui Tianfu Primary School—received National Outstanding Organization Awards. Behind each honor is the sustained effort and quiet dedication of schools committed to the all-round development of students through moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education, while regularly advancing cultural inheritance and innovation.
This national-level evaluation is an authoritative review of the achievements of aesthetic-education reform in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone’s primary and secondary schools. From the expressive use of awls and knives in printmaking to the integration of digital technology with bronze culture; from the intergenerational transmission of Shu-style bamboo craft to the cross-disciplinary fusion of ink painting and ceramics, aesthetic education in the Zone has followed a distinctive path in which tradition and technology engage in dialogue and culture and creativity thrive together.

Next, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone will continue to explore the rich resources of Tianfu culture, regularly bring intangible cultural heritage into schools and deepen innovative, integrated practices in aesthetic education. It will promote successful workshop-building experience, use exemplary programs to raise the quality of aesthetic education across the region, and continue strengthening its high-quality aesthetic-education brand.
