From August 22 to 26, the second World Humanoid Robot Games were held at the National Speed Skating Oval, known as the “Ice Ribbon,” in Beijing. Robots from around the world gathered at the competition venue for a rigorous test of technology and engineering capabilities in real-world conditions. Sichuan Embodied Humanoid Robot Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Sichuan Embodied Tech”) from Chengdu Hi-tech Zone brought its mass-produced humanoid robot “AIQ” to the opening ceremony stage and entered the cheerleading competition.

At the 2026 World Robot Conference, which just concluded, the new-generation “AIQ” made its global commercial debut and was officially put on sale, with its interaction and motion-control versions launched simultaneously. At the exhibition, “AIQ” stood out as one of the most distinctive and popular booths, thanks to its 3D ultra-short-throw digital face that can dynamically switch Sichuan Opera facial masks, and it received multiple expressions of interest from China and overseas. Just days later, this Chengdu-made robot entered the competition arena. In the cheerleading event, three “AIQ” robots held pom-poms and completed a full group routine through swarm control, high-dynamic motion control and emotional interaction, incorporating the cultural element of Sichuan Opera face-changing into their facial special-effects performance.
“Emotion is not only for companionship; it may also be the answer to reaching AGI and the ultimate goal of embodied intelligence. The information carried by emotion may help robots understand human states, adjust their interactive behavior and improve their ability to adapt over the long term. Over the past year or so, we have been refining the robot’s motion control and integrated capabilities on real machines. The competition is not just about results; it is also a high-intensity engineering test that assesses comprehensive capabilities in motion control, on-site deployment and environmental adaptability,” said Feng Zhenyu, CEO of Sichuan Embodied Tech. The event provides a standardized, high-level and open environment. By competing, the company can exchange views and benchmark itself against peers worldwide, collect operational data under real-world conditions and feed it back into product iteration and upgrades.

From showcasing commercial products and providing business reception services at the World Robot Conference to undergoing high-intensity trials at the World Humanoid Robot Games, AIQ’s successive appearances offer a snapshot of the growth of the embodied-intelligence industry in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone.
As a national pilot zone for innovation and development of a new generation of artificial intelligence and the core area supporting the National Pilot Zone for Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone stays closely aligned with Sichuan Province’s No. 1 innovation project, “Artificial Intelligence Plus.” It follows a development path of “attracting industries with computing power, nurturing industries through application scenarios and strengthening industries through the ecosystem,” creating a strong business environment for humanoid-robot and embodied-intelligence companies.
As of 2025, the core artificial-intelligence and robotics industries across the Zone had surpassed RMB 90 billion in scale; more than 700 key AI enterprises had gathered there, six companies had been selected as chain leaders in Sichuan’s AI industry, and three companies had made the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Top 100 list of AI enterprises by comprehensive strength.
In Chengdu Hi-tech Zone, with support from the Tianfu Jiangxi Laboratory and Sichuan Humanoid Robot Training Ground, local enterprises can complete the full process of physical-robot training, data collection and simulation evaluation. The Xinchuan Heart Robot Park and the Zhuge Space AI Ecosystem Demonstration Zone continue to open a wealth of real-world scenarios—including parks, communities and commercial districts—enabling robots to conduct real-scene testing and iterative improvements nearby. The Zone also provides multidimensional support in funding, scenarios and talent, helping technology companies navigate growth and forming a closed-loop development model from “technology R&D” to “real-world validation” to “large-scale deployment.”

Next, Chengdu Hi-tech Zone will continue to organize local enterprises to participate in top domestic and international industry exhibitions and technology competitions, using competitions to drive research and exhibitions to drive industrial development, and continue cultivating an embodied-intelligence industrial cluster competitive nationwide. It will also consolidate advantages across the full embodied-intelligence industry chain; strengthen supporting capabilities across the entire chain, including core components, complete robot systems, training platforms and industry applications; attract more chain-leading enterprises and upstream and downstream innovation entities; continue to release urban scenario resources; promote the deep integration of humanoid robots into public-welfare and livelihood scenarios such as culture, commerce and tourism, finance, education, and elderly care and wellness; and accelerate the transformation of technological achievements into real productive forces.
