Medical Equipment Giant GE HealthCare Officially Launches the Project of Precision Medicine Industrial Base in Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-town

On May 8, the medical equipment giant American General Electric HealthCare China (GE HealthCare China) officially launched the project of Precision Medicine Industrial Base in Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-town.

As reported, GE HealthCare announced its independence from the GE Group and was then successfully listed on NASDAQ on January 4, 2023, with its business scope covering four major modules of medical imaging, ultrasound, life care and pharmacodiagnosis.

Promoting the innovative development of precision medicine

As reported, early in 2011, GE Global’s first customer collaboration and innovation center, GE China Innovation Center (CIC) was established in Chengdu. GE HealthCare China’s Customer Service Remote Command Center was also settled in Chengdu. GE CIC has made remarkable contributions to promoting innovation activities of China, especially the Middle and West China, advancing innovative strategic upgrade of GE Global and timely responding to the needs of medical customers in equipment maintenance and repair. Upon over a decade’s development, Chengdu CIC has become the leading innovation platform of GE HealthCare China.

In October last year, GE HealthCare further increased its investment and signed a cooperation agreement with Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CDHT) for the official launch of the Precision Medicine Industrial Base Project. The Project is the first of its kind newly increased in West China by GE HealthCare in recent years, and also the latest result since implementation of its comprehensive domestic production strategy, which fully demonstrates the resolve of GE HealthCare in long-term active investment in China. In the future, GE HealthCare China will continue working closely with upstream and downstream enterprises and partners within the industrial ecology, create industrial clusters, and construct a reliable, safe and resilient local supply chain system, to drive the high-quality development of high-end medical equipment and help with the establishment of industrial ecology and improvement of industrial chain.

Tianfu International Bio-town, where the Precision Medicine Industrial Base Project is located, is jointly built by CDHT and Shuangliu District.
